Whether you own an SUV, a truck or a car. Whether it’s a hatchback, a sedan, crossover or coupe. If you’ve owned your automobile for any length of time, chances are that you’ll likely see some forms of rusting. The rust may happen overtly, on the outside of the hood, the door panels or the roof. Or, as it typically does, your automobile suffers silently, eaten by rust – in the trunk, on the underside of the hood, or behind the door panels – and you’re none-the-wiser!
Addressing the issues may be relatively cheap – if you catch it earlier on in the rusting process. However, there is another cost that most car owners incur as they deal with rusting – whether it is covert or overt. Let’s learn more about why that might happen, and how you can avoid it.
Understanding rusting
The “hidden” cost that we’re talking about is damage to our environment!
Rusting occurs as a process known as oxidation. Without getting too technical, oxidation happens as a chemical reaction set off when moisture and dampness meets iron, steel and metal components of a vehicle. This reaction produces two very visible impacts on the vehicle:
- Physically: The rusted component – be it a tiny screw, a hub cap or the entire hood or door – weakens as a result of rusting. As you use the automobile through the rusting process, without treating the cause of the rust, the physical degradation continues, even to the extent that it may evolve into a health and safety issue
- Aesthetically: Rust turns anything it touches into a dirty brown color. Imagine a bright red automobile, shiny in all respects, except with a tiny dirty brown patch on the hood. With time, left untreated, that tiny brown patch spreads, engulfing the entire hood, and even penetrating beneath it. It damages the look and beauty of the car
When auto owners discover that rust has attacked their vehicle, the first impulse is to use a traditional paint or a rust inhibitor to deal with the issue. As we noted earlier, when treated at the outset – say within hours or days of discovering rust on the vehicle – the cost of using traditional paints is negligible. A touch-up here or there won’t matter.
However, rust is a formidable adversary, and traditional paints just can’t defeat it! So, automobile owners tend to then use larger quantities of traditional anti-rusting paints. And there lies the problem. Firstly, because you didn’t use the most appropriate product at the outset, the rust may have spread further and deeper into the car, potentially causing more structural damage.
And now, the second issue: The use of traditional paints unleashes harmful effects on our environment. The chemicals contained in typically manufactured rust treatment paints, have very high levels of harmful components, that evaporate and damage the environment.
So, what’s the answer?
Well, the answer is something called low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). And is at the forefront of producing and supplying low VOC paints and rust inhibitors. The VOC’s in traditional paints – and other products such as sealants, adhesives and cleaners – are much higher than their low-VOC counterparts. When applied to automobiles, or other rusted structures, these traditional compounds have the tendency to cause untold environmental degermation.
Until now, however, paint manufacturers had no other alternative than to manufacture paints using the traditional production standards. However, Rust Bullet LLC’s Low VOC automotive paints and rust inhibitors have changed that! By law, Low VOC products require a maximum of (or less than!) 150 grams of VOC per liter. And then, there’s the Ultra-Low VOC designation, which products can qualify for is they include 50 grams/Liter or less of VO compounds.
So, how does Rust Bullet LLC’s automotive formula compare?
With just 97 grams of VOC per liter, this product is a revolution in rust prevention and treatment. Given the ultra-high manufacturing standards it follows, it is just shy of claiming the Ultra-Low VOC designation – and that’s saying something! Now, automobile owners that notice rust on their vehicles don’t need to worry about harming the ozone layer when they deal with rust.
But there’s more to this amazing formula that you’ll know. When fighting rust, you don’t need to apply a primer or a top coating. Rust Bullet LLC’s automotive formula is therefore the ideal single-stop rust inhibitor. And, thanks again to the ingenious patented formula, it covers a wider surface than any of the competitor products available. And, as a bonus, it is UV resistant and scratch/chip-resistant – qualities that’ll guarantee protection to your automobile against rust for a longer period.
