SPRAYING GUIDELINES
Metal Jacket is compatible with most spray systems, although its thicker consistency favors sturdier, industrial-grade equipment. Professional sprayers can often apply the product without thinning, but most users with lighter-duty sprayers will find it helpful to cut/thin the product using common petroleum solvents (mineral spirits, thinners, naphtha, etc.). Mineral spirits are generally preferred for their fast evaporation, low cost, and easy availability.
Because spray equipment varies widely, we recommend:
- Agitating the Metal Jacket thoroughly before use.
- Adding only the minimum amount of thinning solvent required for your sprayer to operate smoothly.
Unlike many petroleum-wax rust inhibitors that require heating to around 170°F before application, Metal Jacket is ready for use straight from the container, no heating needed. Simply stir, thin if necessary, and apply.
If you prefer a pre-thinned, ready-to-spray option, consider Metal Jacket Aerosol.
