Project Description:

Puppy Proof Protection: Sadie’s Safe Room

When it comes to floor coatings, there’s a big difference between a quick fix and a lasting solution. For one determined homeowner, a simple floor project turned into a full-on renovation—and Rust Bullet rose to the challenge.

Faced with a converted 11×17 garage that doubled as a heavily trafficked entryway and future safe space for a new pit bull puppy named Sadie, durability wasn’t optional—it was essential.

A Coating That Earns Rave Reviews
Annette’s experience with Rust Bullet speaks for itself:

“Just look at the results! I have a 11×17 attached converted garage that the previous owner glued down commercial carpet. This room is also used for an main entrance all the time. I’ve researched paint for my project finding the average concrete paint is only a quick fix. Wanted something very durable especially since this will be a safe room for my new pitty puppy Sadie while I am at work. So Rustbullet to the rescue! Seen many reviews online with happy customers. Excellent customer service (Josh) to guide me among the way. I tore up the Capet and the glued down padding. Literally scraped the glue off with 100 razor blades by hand. Patch any cracks or dings. After the glue was removed, sanded the concrete down with 80 grit paper. Performed a moisture test and painted. The ordering process was quick to arrive. Choosing from the colors was most difficult. Allow yourself time to complete the job. Have plenty of ventilation because it is wicked. Plenty of fans and wear a respirator! Two coats and wait between for a few hours. This paint will stick to anything, be careful to watch your skin and clothing. Have two rollers, two applicators and 2 brushes because cleaning them is useless, just toss. I used a pair of baseball cleats to apply the second coat so no shoe prints will show. Both coats of paint in the same day were enough for my job. I used every drop in the gallon for my 11×17 garage. It is optional to use the colored flakes and a clear coat, but I chose not to. The next morning the floor was beautiful! Dry enough that I can walk on it to pull up the painters tape. Full cure in 3 days. I am extremely happy with the results. Ask questions and follow directions. It is a process but well worth it.”

This DIYer not only created a space that’s safe for Sadie and stunning to look at, but also built something that’ll stand the test of time—resisting wear, tear, and paw traffic for years to come!
