Method:
After 500 hours in the Seawater
Spray (Fog) Chamber, the remaining four test panels were subjected
to the Seawater Immersion Resistance test, ASTM D870. A plastic
tank was filled with seawater and the panels were suspended from
a line with plastic shims between the panel suspension holes.
The panels were soaked in seawater for 336 hours (2 weeks), and
then removed for final inspection. |

The Wasser® Brand System panel (number 6) and the POR-15® System panel (number 8) undercut by more than ¼ of an inch, and were considered failures. The Rust Bullet® panel (number 2) and the Rust-oleum® Cold Galvanizing Compound panel (number 5) still exhibited good film integrity and were considered as passing this phase of testing.
